Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

Sales of new cars in Bulgaria during the first three months of the year continues to collapse even if the crisis in 2009 when they were not too high.

According to the Association of Automobile manufacturers and their authorized representatives in Bulgaria (AAP) from January to March in this country were bought 4,116 new passenger and commercial cars, trucks, buses and motorcycles, which is the retreat of 42% over last year.

Compared to pre-crisis 2008, when 15,224 were sold motor vehicles, the market has shrunk nearly four times.

The most serious continues to decline in trucks (52%) and in January-March 2010 dealers reported 130 deals against 274 years earlier. For comparison - in the first three months of 2008 sales were over 900. The main reason for this is the crisis in construction.

At present the best market trucks stand “Iveco”, 71 found buyers of their models. Mercedes is in second place with 48 deals.

When cars drop in almost the same proportions as the overall market - 41% (3956 against 6898 transactions).

“Every month we ask our colleagues to back you got to push back, but we do not answer that question - this assessment given the state of the automotive market in the country at the beginning of the year by the manager of BMW Group Bulgaria Alexander Milanov is completely valid for the first quarter of 2010

Against this background, predictions for the future is hard to be given. “I will not be surprised if the market does not exceed 20,000 against 54,000 in 2008, told Dnevnik Managing Director of Moto-Phoe Dimo Nikolov.

He added that the automobile business is a mirror of the business as a whole. “Before the crisis the company’s sales accounted for 65% of our sales. Everything depends on when the economy of Bulgaria will go up, summarized Nikolov.

Else in cars and light trucks remained leader Peugeot with market share of 10.36% (410 cars). The second item is a Ford (9.56%, 378 sales), and compared to the first two months Volkswagen shifts Dacia “in third place. Toyota does anticipate “Citroen”, and enter into top 5.

Surprisingly, the general background, almost double sales jumped buses - 30 to 16 transactions, which is due to the delivery of 20 new bus Mercedes concessionaire for lines of public transport in Sofia “getting on with. Logically, the brand is a market leader, the second “Iveco” has only 9 sales.

In motorcycles decline in demand is 40 percent (69 for 42 pieces), the most popular machines are the “Yamaha” (16 sales) and Peugeot (13).

Lack of car harassing MPs

Monday, May 17th, 2010

For the latest information has 116 cars, which enjoy demand from MPs
Fleet of the National Assembly is the last century and therefore the maintenance costs of such cars which are over half a million kilometers, is extremely high.

It told Focus agentsiya Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly and member of GERB Lachezar Ivanov on the idea of reducing the cost of the fleet of National Assembly.

“My opinion is that the National Assembly must get rid of these cars because they only spend a lot of money and efficiency is no. Benefit is not more than 60 vehicles for 240 members. Benefit is 60, maximum of 70 cars are in motion. Others are dead. Cars - dead working for example two days, then have three months to repair. It’s nice to know people. Mercedes bought last century and more than half a million kilometers. I am very curious how many people ride in cars that are over half a million kilometers. As usual all looked in parliament. See how many departments in Head and Director of the ride in a much more expensive luxury car, I would say and SUVs, “said Ivanov.

For the latest information has 116 cars, which enjoy demand from MPs. Borisov, announced this morning live on bTV. Most of the cars in the fleet are Mercedes parliamentary - model between 1996 and 1998 - about 450 000-500 000 km run. For comparison, in Germany for approximately 620 MPs are provided only 40 cars. In Austria, the government estimated that about 246 MPs six government vehicles are adequate

I often asked lawmakers used cars, the President replied:

“In terms of coming in plenary days when Wednesday, Thursday and Friday we have plenary sessions, the information I have is that MPs enjoy buschetata of housing units where they are placed in relation to MPs who are not from Sofia constituency and colleagues from Sofia and often prefer to use private cars, but with their own cars to move and many of our colleagues from the province. “National Assembly Chairman added:” There is a demand by MPs to use the car park when they have meetings in his constituency and had from one municipality to another location in the constituency to travel. But all this is a strict accounting and control, which is carried out personally by the Secretary of Parliament.

Expert.bg recalls that in January this year, Wall Street Journal reflect some of the more unusual measures the government to combat the crisis and deal with the fleet. The publication wrote that many public men ride in cars seized from criminals - among them Finance Minister Simeon Djankov with Audi 4 and thus save taxpayers’ money. Audi, it was confiscated because it was detected before time 10 pounds of heroin - shipment from Turkey to Western Europe.

“Nearly 100 cars seized from criminals currently in use for business needs of government. Dozens of jeeps and Mercedes are used by ministers and senior clergy, and others are sold for the benefit of the Treasury, writes newspaper for something that is common practice in Bulgaria for years.

Djankov said before publication that the government sends a clear signal of the Bulgarians, that no wasted taxpayers’ money. “Send signal to criminals that we are after them,” said another deputy prime minister and finance minister.

The question of how far we “bring” the government policy to provide transport remain open. However, the statement by the President of the EU Herman van Rompoy on his visit in Sofia, Bulgaria is back on the right path sounds encouraging.
